I) under a wall of drywall (the upper plate to the ceiling?

Hello I need to renovate building on a wall in a bathroom. This is at the top the tub (opposite the drain), and have a ledger for the tub, too. The other side of this wall is a cupboard. I can nail the bottom plate to the substrate. However, drywall is already on the ceiling. Did you see any problems if I record my nails with drywall on the ceiling? Of course I'll nail into the bar at the top. I guess the other option is cutting out the drywall. Thoughts? Thanks

As long as the top plate is nailed into a solid formulation, you are good to go. No need to remove the drywall. Simply Cement Board (for tile), or the new dry wall, tape and the joint at the ceiling, and you're good to go. Hope this helps.
