How can avoid them, and remove "purple fringing" of digital photos?
You can remove the fringing in Photoshop the lens correction menu [in the newer versions]. Avoiding it is a little harder, and depends strongly on the lens to use. The hem is more common in darker objects when placed against a light background. Lenses that the use of ED and ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass to minimize these aberrations, but the nature of the digital Photography has seen its share of visual defects. The newer cameras and lenses have much better optical superiority over their predecessors, of course, at a price. Even the easiest way dealling with fringe is Photoshop.
