What exactly is a medium format camera and what type of photography it is used
Medium format cameras use 120 or 220 roll film, which is about 6 cm wide (2 and 1 / 4 inches). This size of roll film introduced by Kodak in 1898 for the Folding Pocket Kodak Camera.
