Excellent Condition
Do you need to be in excellent physical condition to handle Yoshinkan Aikido?
Some background information about me, I practiced karate, Judo, and very little Aikikai, but due to scheduling difficulties problems, decided to get a Yoshinkan earlier this week. I have a lot of both Aikikai and Yoshinkan researched, and I know that Aikikai as a "soft" style and Yoshinkan a "hard" style, but of course I have learned that the Teachers depends. But my question is, I know both are similar, but there is more emphasis on physical activity in the warm-up, such as push-ups, running, etc? Or it will be like the "usual" Judo / Aikido warm-ups, which are mostly trails, etc. I am not worried, but I want to be prepared only have not I done no great heart for a while. thanks! I know that supposedly know the Tokyo Riot Police in Yoshinkan, and of course better in excellent physical condition be? You Agee?
Actually, it does not mean what physical condition you are in the matter, what matters is what mental state you are making is not a martial art, you know, as a rule with the muscles you train normally do not regularly use, so no matter how fit you are, you feel in general fatigued after trying something new. It's what you do after feeling of exhaustion and fatigue, that counts. If you are really determined to continue training and better at it, it will sooner or later you will reach your top form in this art. So do not worry too much about it. Did I remember the first time I tried Aikido back in school and feel totally involved by the physical endurance (yep, it takes a lot of stamina, in contrast overwhelmed popular misconceptions, our sensei was a tough teacher and requires at least 100 repetitions of each drill and technique, warm-up alone lasted 1 hour and not a minute less), I did not think I could last minute, but after years of training, I could walk for an hour and still be able to lift my arms are and remain. Just focus more on the mastery of a technique at a time when you get there early enough.
