How to make a UV filter to fix my Canon EOS 450D DSLR camera?

I bought a DSLR Canon EOS 450D camera. I was given a free UV filter. But I am not sure how to fix it on my lens. Can anyone tell me how or give me a website where it gives instructions. Do I turn my lens or something, so I can attach the UV filter. Pls help .. thank you ..

The filter should simply screw onto the front of the lens. Clockwise and counterclockwise to remove it.
