Built-in image stabilizer. Is it a very desired feature in a DSLR camera? NEX-5/NEX-3 camera like no image stabilization works because it uses lens based image stabilizer. does it results in a sort of quality loss in photographs? I do not have much knowledge about cameras and lenses.
Not really. Until a few years ago there were no photographers on an option to use IS. It may come in handy from time to time, but honestly I the VR function on my lenses less than 5% of the time, but a good monopod and the camera keeps techniques similar to those used when shooting with a rifle is good enough. Brace the camera to your face and breathe in both hands, and press the shutter button all the time with shutter speeds 1/1000th of a second or faster
